The Sony SL-HF660 Betamax Video Cassette Recorder is a classic piece of home entertainment technology that offers a unique viewing experience. This VCR is known for its durability and versatility, making it a great addition to any home video collection.

The SL-HF660 is a 1/2-inch Betamax VCR that can play both Betamax and Betamax-SP tape formats. It features a sleek and compact design, making it easy to fit into any entertainment center or shelf. The top-loading mechanism allows for easy tape insertion and removal, while the automatic tape threading system ensures that the tape is always properly aligned for optimal playback.

This VCR is equipped with advanced features to enhance your viewing experience. It includes a built-in speaker system that delivers clear and rich sound quality. Additionally, it has a headphone jack for private listening. The SL-HF660 also comes with a remote control, allowing you to operate the VCR from the comfort of your seat.

The remote control for the SL-HF660 is a universal one that works with a variety of Sony electronics. It has buttons for play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, and stop functions, as well as volume controls and power on/off. The remote can be used with both 120V and 220V power supplies, making it a versatile option for use in different regions.

The SL-HF660 also includes a timer function, allowing you to set the VCR to record your favorite shows automatically. It has a digital clock display and a calendar function to help you keep track of recording schedules.

The SL-HF660 Betamax Video Cassette Recorder is not only a great option for watching classic Betamax tapes, but it can also be used to record new content from broadcast TV or other sources using an external input source. With its advanced features, rich sound quality, and versatile remote control, the SL-HF660 is a must-have for any video collector or nostalgia enthusiast.

The Sony SL-HF660 Betamax Video Cassette Recorder is an obsolete device used for recording and playing back Betamax tapes. Here are some pros and cons to help you decide if purchasing this remote control for your SL-HF660 is worthwhile.

Pros:

1. Convenience: Using a remote control allows for easier operation of the VCR from a distance, eliminating the need to get up every time you want to make adjustments.

2. Improved functionality: A remote control can offer additional features like programmable recording, playback controls, and channel selection that may not be readily accessible on the VCR's front panel.

3. Customization: Some users might prefer the layout and design of a particular remote control, making their viewing experience more enjoyable.

Cons:

1. Availability: Betamax technology is no longer in use, and finding a remote control for an obsolete device like the SL-HF660 might be challenging. You may have to look for second-hand options or try contacting Sony's customer support for assistance.

2. Compatibility: Ensure that the remote control you purchase is specifically designed for the SL-HF660, as different VCR models may require different remote controls.

3. Cost: Betamax-specific remote controls can be expensive due to their rarity. You might find it more cost-effective to consider alternative options like purchasing a universal remote control that can be programmed to operate your VCR.

4. Limited functionality: Since the SL-HF660 is an old device, the remote control may not offer advanced features that newer devices have, such as digital programmable recording or Bluetooth connectivity.

Conclusion:

Purchasing a remote control for a Betamax VCR like the Sony SL-HF660 can offer convenience and improved functionality, but it comes with certain challenges. Availability and compatibility issues make it a more complex decision than purchasing a remote control for a more modern device. If you are committed to using your Betamax VCR and find the convenience of a remote control appealing, it might be worth the investment. However, you may also consider alternative options like universal remote controls or even upgrading to a more modern format like DVD or Blu-ray. Ultimately, the decision depends on your personal preferences, the availability of the remote control, and the importance you place on the added convenience.

Sony Betamax VCR, model #SL-HF660, I did not test every function, Howe it is working and plays a cassette clearly, but will eject tape. Cosmetically in excellent condition. Current cord is, I believe, UK with a US adapter. Switch on the back can change from 220V to 120V.

Sometimes I may miss something, if you believe shipping charges are wrong, please reach out and will check. I have no control over their charges and they do not offer combined shipping at this time. I'm more than happy to accommodate if you communicate with me. Please view photos closely as sometimes they can show you the condition better than I am able to describe it.
